Steve's Testimony
Steve was born and raised on a dairy farm in Delano, Minnesota. He is the third of six
children. He was brought up knowing who Christ, God and the Holy Spirit are, but did not
understand the personal relationship and forgiving grace one can have through Jesus.
In Ninth grade he realized he was a sinner on his way to Hell. After reading a Chic Tract that
spoke about the free gift that Jesus has given, he asked Jesus to forgive him of his sins. He
believed what Jesus Christ did for him on the cross when Jesus shed his blood, was buried
and rose again. When he trusted in Jesus his sin was forgiven, giving him eternal life.
Beyond that, there was nothing he could ever do to get into heaven ( not kind acts, not
baptism, not anything). He found the Bible to be very clear that Jesus was the only Way, the
Truth, and the Life; he could not come to God (get into heaven) except through Jesus Christ.
The Bible states in Acts 16:31, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."
This decision brought some changes in his life however,he felt there was something
missing. It was after entering the Military that he found it. Once at his permanent duty
station, God put him in contact with a new friend that had a personal relationship with Jesus
Christ. In October of 1987, he asked if he could go to church with her at Watertown Baptist
Temple in Watertown, New York. There he heard the Bible clearly preached and
understood what the decision of salvation actually meant. Since that time, he has developed
a closer relationship with Jesus Christ through continued study of the Bible.
Steve, his wife Holly and their three children have worked in the music ministry at Parkers
Lake Baptist Church in Plymouth, MN for the last 13 years. They are currently members at
Northwest Bible Church in St. Michael, MN where they are active in the music ministry.
